Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and friendly Food Service Assistant to join our team at Battlesbury Barracks, Warminster BA12 8NJ. You'll play a key role in supporting the delivery of efficient and high-quality food services, creating a positive experience for everyone.

• Maintain high personal hygiene and presentation standards at all times, in compliance with the Food Safety Act.
• Possess a basic working knowledge of food production, adhering to Sodexo's food safety policy.
• Report equipment defects and deficiencies immediately to the Head Chef/Manager or deputy.
• Identify food recovery requirements each shift, ensuring compliance with Company Procedures, Assured Safe Catering, and HACCP guidelines, while minimizing waste.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures in the kitchen and related areas, with emphasis on security.
• Monitor fridges, freezers, hot services, and chilled cabinets in line with Company Quality Procedures.
• Comply with Food Safety and Health and Safety Legislation; develop knowledge of COSHH, manual handling, and accident reporting through training.
• Follow Company Quality Procedures during deliveries, completing relevant documentation.
• Provide excellent customer service, serving food and beverages to high standards.
• Assist in meal preparation and assembly, adhering to safety and hygiene regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food service areas, including dishwashing, surface cleaning, and restocking.
• Keep work areas clean and tidy, following a 'clean as you go' policy.
• Supervise and replenish food hotplates and counters, ensuring they are clean and debris-free during service.
• Serve and hold foods at required temperatures, recording temperatures as necessary.
• Continuously develop skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, teamwork, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
• Have a good understanding of numeracy.
• Work 35 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days, with one weekend in four, on early (6:00-14:00) and late (11:00-19:00) shifts with breaks.
• Earn £12.21 per hour.
