Night Waste Operative

Pay rate: £14.65 per hour.
Contract type: Full Time, Fixed Term (3 Months).
Hours: 36 per week.
Shift Pattern: 6 pm – 6 am, Thursday – Saturday (Night Shift).
Location: McCormick (UK), 5 Forli Strada, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, England, PE7 3HH.

Responsibilities

• Collect, move, sort, process and dispatch waste and other materials, including compaction of waste and cardboard.
• Work compliantly with Health & Safety regulations.
• Monitor equipment performance and provide support to the On-Site Waste Coordinator to meet site objectives.
• Follow PPE guidance and ensure safe working practices.
• Operate counterbalance forklift while complying with safety protocols.
• Work outside in extreme weather conditions and maintain effective communication in English.
• Exercise strong attention to detail, excellent time‑management skills, and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Pass a DBS check and complete pre‑employment drug/alcohol screening.

Qualifications

• Valid forklift operator licence/certification.
• Previous experience in waste management or a related field is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced team.
• Physical capability to lift and move heavy objects.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Understanding of Health & Safety training, waste management, and environmental legislation.
• Experience with static balers, compactors and ability to carry out strenuous tasks.
