Role: Fire Alarm Engineer - Small Works


Location: Knightsbridge, London


Duration: Until September 2026


Pay Rate: £350 P/day Umbrella


Hours of work: 7:00 - 15:00


Week: Mon - Friday (Flexibility/Weekends and Evenings may be needed dependant on project schedule)


Responsibilities

The Role: As a Fire Systems Small Works Installation Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and handover of small-scale fire alarm and detection system projects. This role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who is comfortable working independently can deliver high-quality work in line with industry standards.


You will be expected to liaise with clients on-site, maintain documentation, and ensure all works are delivered to specification and in line with current regulations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Install, commission, and test fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1 standards

  • Carry out modifications and upgrades on existing systems

  • Complete all documentation, including job sheets, commissioning certificates, and handover forms

  • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and internal teams

  • Ensure all work is completed within budget, on time, and to a high standard

  • Adhere to all company policies and health and safety procedures

  • Mark up as fit drawing for design team

  • Attend training to stay up to date with latest standards and technology


Essential Requirements


  • Proven experience installing and commissioning fire detection and alarm systems

  • Strong working knowledge of BS 5839-1

  • Experience with Sinteso/ Desigo (preferred, but training will be provided)

  • ECS or CSCS Card

  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills


Desirable Qualifications


  • FIA Units (e.g., Units 1 & 4) or equivalent certification

  • Experience with CCTV

  • Experience with Sinteso/ Desigo (preferred, but training will be provided)
