Qualifications

  • Holder of a recognised accounting qualification.
  • Experience of senior finance role in the social housing sector.
  • Expert knowledge of IFRS and FRS102.
  • Proficient knowledge of tax in relation to social housing sector.
  • Expert skills in implementing strong financial controls.

Responsibilities

  • Transform Monthly Close Processes and deliver best-in-class month-end procedures.
  • Improve financial controls and document processes for accuracy.
  • Lead Balance Sheet Reconciliations and implement frameworks.
  • Redesign Chart of Accounts for improved data quality.
  • Oversee and enhance tax compliance processes.
  • Manage all tax matters and strategies.
  • Create risk-assessed documentation for key finance activities.
  • Draft group accounts and manage the annual audit.
  • Mentor team members and promote continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across teams to support transformation projects.

Skills

Financial Controller / Head of Financial Control / Continuous Improvement

This is a key leadership role focused on financial reporting, strong financial controls, audit readiness and continuous improvement across the organisation. It involves compliance, reconciliations, financial planning and Excel-based analysis.

SALARY: £90,000 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid – working from the office in Ealing, West London (W5) and from home

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Financial Controller / Head of Financial Control with expertise in financial reporting, reconciliations and continuous improvement across finance operations. As a Financial Controller / Head of Financial Control you will strengthen financial controls, streamline month‑end close processes and support strategic financial planning while driving best practice. The Financial Controller / Head of Financial Control will collaborate with operational teams, lead audit preparation and enhance data quality, playing a key role in developing robust compliance frameworks.

DUTIES
  • Transform Monthly Close Processes: Deliver best-in-class month-end and consolidation procedures
  • Improve Financial Controls: Document and enhance financial control processes to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Lead Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Implement effective reconciliation frameworks
  • Redesign Chart of Accounts: Update structures and hierarchies to improve data quality
  • Oversee Tax Processes: Document, assess and enhance tax compliance procedures
  • Manage Tax Strategy: Hold responsibility for all tax matters
  • Create Risk-Assessed Procedures: Develop documentation for key finance activities
  • Lead Statutory Accounts: Draft group accounts and manage the annual audit
  • Provide Leadership: Mentor team members and promote continuous improvement
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Support transformation projects and provide financial insights
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Holder of a recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience of senior finance role in the social housing sector
  • Knowledge of IFRS and FRS102 (Expert)
  • Knowledge of tax in relation to social housing sector (Proficient)
  • Skilled in implementing strong financial controls (Expert)
  • Strong Excel skills
