The Role:
Augment Risk is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Financial Controller to join our global finance team. Reporting directly to the Global Controller, this role is critical in ensuring UK financial, tax, VAT, and statutory compliance while actively contributing to global initiatives in financial reporting, ERP automation, and technical accounting. This is not just an oversight role-you will be directly involved in executing and managing key processes, working with external consultants, and partnering with colleagues across the business to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful financial information. Responsibilities
- UK Corporate Tax & VAT Compliance and Strategy
- Manage and execute the UK corporate tax return process. If needed, working directly with external advisors to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Manage quarterly VAT filings and establish automation processes to meet HMRC\'s Making Tax Digital requirements. If needed, working with external consultants on VAT automation project.
- Partner with the Global Controller to build and implement VAT strategy, including compliance with HMRC\'s requirements, optimizing AP billing strategy, and improving VAT recovery.
- Collaborate with the Global Controller and CFO on global tax and transfer pricing strategy, as well as ad hoc matters such as employee compensation tax and corporate structuring.
- Statutory Reporting & Finance Operations
- Manage and prepare FCA statutory reporting and other jurisdictional statutory reporting to ensure accuracy and timely filing.
- Design and implement processes for FCA statutory reporting, Bermudian statutory reporting, and other jurisdictional filings.
- Drive automation and system improvements for accurate and timely submissions.
- Partner with the Global Controller and Client Solutions team on fiduciary fund finance processes as they continue to develop.
- Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting
- Manage and execute the month-end closing process of accounts payable, cash, bank reconciliations, cost allocation, while collaborating with the Global Controller and consultants on the overall month-end closing process.
- Play a key role in collaborating with the Global Controller and Head of FP&A in delivering monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management and investors.
- Coordinate and lead the work performed by external consultants involved in month-end closing.
- Partner with the Global Controller in managing the annual audit process.
- ERP & Systems Development
- Partner with the Global Controller on ERP automation and finance process improvements. Implement enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Technical & Strategic Accounting
- Advise on UK-specific accounting topics. Provide input to ensure UK requirements are reflected in group policies.
- Collaborate with the Global Controller to build firm-wide global accounting policies and guidance.
Experience
- 7+ years of in controllership roles, preferably in the financial services or insurance industry.
- Strong UK accounting and finance regulatory reporting expertise, with hands-on experience in UK statutory reporting including FCA reporting, and UK tax compliance including corporate tax and VAT.
- Strong systems/ERP background (NetSuite a plus) and a proven ability to execute and improve processes.
- High standards of ethics and professionalism, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment.
- A proven track record of delivering measurable results in fast-paced and dynamic environments, demonstrating the ability to collaborate and execute effectively, prioritize competing demands, and drive both accuracy and process improvements.
- Strong collaborative and supportive mindset for colleagues across the entire organization.
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA, ACCA, CA preferred).
