A growing finance organisation in Belfast is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function. This role involves managing the finance team, overseeing financial reporting, and optimizing the ERP system for efficiency. Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function within a growing, ambitious organisation. Reporting to the CFO, the role will manage the finance team and oversee financial and commercial reporting across all entities and service lines, while driving the optimisation of a newly implemented ERP system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring timely delivery of monthly reporting
  • Embed and optimise the ERP system to enhance automation, efficiency and ways of working
  • Oversee monthly management accounts, financial performance reports and board-level reporting
  • Manage the preparation of audited financial statements and liaise with external auditors
  • Oversee corporation tax computations, VAT returns and ensure full tax compliance
  • Lead budgeting, long‑term financial planning and preparation of rolling profit and cashflow forecasts, including financial modelling
  • Drive profitability reporting, contract performance analysis and staff utilisation insights
  • Monitor expenditure against budgets and support corrective action where required
  • Strengthen internal financial controls and documentation
  • Jointly supervise an outsourced payroll function with People & Culture
  • Support the wider finance team and the CFO as needed
The Person
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller and management role, including team development
  • Expertise with accounting software
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Demonstrable experience in financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong commercial awareness and KPI reporting experience
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to build trusted relationships at all levels
