Financial Controller – Suzuki GB

Suzuki GB is now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to play a critical leadership role within the Finance team.

The Opportunity

This is a highly influential position responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity, governance and operational effectiveness of Suzuki GB. You will lead a high‑performing team, oversee all financial and tax reporting, strengthen internal controls, and act as a key business partner across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Financial Controller to step into a broad, visible role with exposure to senior leadership and the chance to deputise for the General Manager, Finance.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Stakeholder Management
  • Lead, develop and mentor a team of seven across core financial operations.
  • Build strong relationships with HMRC, external auditors, banking partners and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Advise the business on accounting methods, policies and controls.
Financial Reporting and Governance
  • Own the general ledger, statutory accounts, tax reporting and fixed asset register.
  • Lead month‑end close, balance sheet reporting, capex reviews and consolidation packs.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legislation, J‑SOX requirements and internal procedures.
Tax Oversight
  • Act as Tax Lead for the UK and Ireland, overseeing Corporation Tax, VAT, P11Ds and tax submissions.
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and ensure robust tax records and reporting.
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation, APA processes and Pillar 2 requirements.
  • Maintain the Tax Risk Register and SAO/CCO compliance.
Operational Finance Responsibilities
  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Expenses and Cashflow.
  • Ensure accurate accounting treatment, timely payments and robust policy adherence.
  • Manage FX hedging policy and currency transactions.
Audit, Risk and Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and coordinate the annual audit.
  • Own the Finance Risk Register and ensure mitigation strategies are embedded.Drive automation, process enhancement and system optimisation across Finance.
Skills and Experience
Essential
  • Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years PQE.
  • Strong people management experience.
  • Expert knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS.
  • Proven experience leading audits and ensuring compliance.
  • High levels of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable
  • Experience with SAP B1.
  • Background in a similar industry or complex corporate environment.
