Job description

We are working with a well-established and highly regarded business based in Peterlee to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Finance Manager will be responsible for the full finance function, ensuring robust controls, accurate reporting, and compliance across the business. This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys being operational as well as strategic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and producing monthly and annual management accounts, including P&L and balance sheets
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Managing VAT returns, PAYE, payroll, and other statutory submissions
  • Overseeing accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Managing cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure planning
  • Providing financial analysis and insight to support commercial and strategic decisions
  • Reviewing, maintaining, and improving financial systems and processes
  • Leading and supporting a small finance team to ensure accuracy and performance
Candidate Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Proven experience in a senior or standalone finance role
  • Strong knowledge of management reporting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial controls
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and spreadsheet skills, including financial analysis and modelling
  • Confident working closely with senior management
  • Experience within construction or a project-led environment would be advantageous, but is not essential
