Cherry Professional are delighted to working witha well-established and highly profitable SME business based in Nottingham, a continued period of growth has led to the creation of a Financial Controller position to lead the businesses finance team through a period of ongoing profitable growth.

The Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-driven Financial Controller to oversee the company’s financial operations. This position is key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing transactions, and supporting strategic decisions.

What We’re Looking For

• Key Responsibilities

• Financial Management & Reporting: Prepare financial reports, track company performance, and assist with monthly management accounts.
• Customer & Supplier Transactions: Issue invoices, manage accounts receivable/payable, and ensure prompt payments.
• Banking & Cash Flow: Perform regular reconciliations and oversee debt management.
• Payroll & VAT Compliance: Process staff timesheets, manage payroll elements, and ensure VAT returns are accurate and submitted on time.
• Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Support audit preparation and ensure tax obligations are met.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualifications: Part Qualified, fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, AAT) or Qualified by Experience
• Experience: Previous experience in a financial management or accounting role, with a strong grasp of accounting systems and financial processes.
• Skills: Strong use of Excel and accounting software (Sage).
• Key Attributes: Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
