Finance Business Partner (Contract)

Location: Farnborough (3 days a week on site)

Pay: £29.59 per hour PAYE / £39.50 per hour Umbrella

Hours: 37 per week

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (completed by AALTO Security)

As a Finance Business Partner, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting our mission to unlock Stratospace and deliver real-world impact—from environmental monitoring to connecting remote communities.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to budget owners and senior leaders, providing proactive financial insight and guidance.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and enhance monthly financial reports, deliver insightful commentary, and support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles.
  • Strategic Support: Build robust financial models and business cases to inform key decisions, ensuring all proposals are thoroughly challenged and vetted.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues across the business.
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare and present monthly reports, analyse variances, and identify risks and opportunities to help the business stay on track.
  • Cost Analysis: Provide detailed cost analysis and guidance to cost centre owners, supporting both overhead and project decision-making.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive enhancements in financial processes and systems, including improvements to Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other tools.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Financial Control team to ensure accuracy and integrity in all financial postings.
  • Board & Management Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly management and Board reports.
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and translating financial data for a wide audience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment—ideally within a company of 200-500 employees.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and the MS Office suite; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to manage both regular month-end duties and ad hoc analysis.
