Finance Assistant
Location: York
Salary: Up to £30,000 + Study Support

We are working with a well-established organisation in York to recruit a Finance Assistant. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play an important part in financial reporting, payroll accuracy and supporting wider business operations.

Role

As Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting month-end, quarterly and year-end reporting, including management accounts, budgets, KPIs and financial statements
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and updating ledgers via journals
  • Reconciling income and work in progress schedules, and assisting with project invoicing
  • Liaising with auditors, both internal and external
  • Working with HR and the payroll provider to ensure accurate monthly payroll, including bonus calculations, holiday accruals and reconciliations between Sage 200 and payroll
  • Providing ad hoc administrative support and processing transactions as needed
  • Assisting in the supervision and development of a finance apprentice
The Person

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Payroll and accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, including functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF and pivot tables
  • Experience of Sage 200
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across finance, HR and audit
