Contract: Part-time (22.5 hrs pw, flexible hours available - initially 6 month contract Salary: £16,537pa

The Role

As Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in the smooth running of our hospices financial operations. You will support the Finance Manager with day-to-day tasks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across all financial activities.

This is an exciting opportunity. we are able to offer flexible hours but one day must be a Friday.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing invoices, payments, and receipts in line with hospice policies
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Maintaining accurate records and filing systems
  • Liaising with suppliers, staff, and external stakeholders regarding finance queries
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes
  • Assisting in the lottery department function, including ensuring that there is a continuity of service when the Lottery Co-ordinator is absent.

To be a member of the Financeteam, contributing to the day-to-day financial management of the hospiceand associated companies.

To provide cover forthe lottery department as required

To provide effective financialsupport to enable the Hospice to operate efficiently

FINANCIAL

Effectively assist in the day-to-day accounting andfinancial management of the charity and its associated subsidiaries,particularly concentrating on Promotions and Trading subsidiaries

Assist the Finance Manager with the budgetingprocesses and reporting on financial performance to the management teams,Finance Committee & Board of Trustees

Maintain a culture of excellence, leading by example.

Providing management information to the SeniorManagement Team & EMT

Continually seek to identify potential savingopportunities.

Liaise with banks, auditors and other associatedcompanies

Assist in the lottery department function, includingensuring that there is a continuity of service when the Lottery Co-ordinatoris absent.

Respond to any financial queries from staff, Boardand funding providers

GOVERNANCEAND QUALITY

Assist in ensuring financial and lottery policiesand procedures are reviewed, amended if required and adhered to, andreported to the Finance Committee.

Ensure appropriate backup and storage of financialinformation

Assistance with preparation and submission ofmonthly Gambling Commission returns

Contribute to the strategic direction of the hospiceand its services for patients and families

Maintain compliance and contribute to relevantelements of the governance framework including risk management

MANAGEMENT

Manage all financial services, ensuring consistentlyaccurate data is maintained at all times.

Provide accurate information, statistics andoutcomes to the Board of Trustees, sub committees and other partners asrequired.

EDUCATIONAND DEVELOPMENT

Attendinduction programmes, and education training for staff, creating a culture oflearning and development.

Maintainexternal links with educational providers.
