Overview

Finance Accountant (Concessions)

Luxury department store, Harvey Nichols, is searching for a new Finance Accountant to join its thriving Finance department in our Head Office, London - Knightsbridge. Our culture is based on inclusivity; we embrace diversity. Whoever you are, Harvey Nichols has a place for you.

This role entails management of the concessions business in all Harvey Nichols stores in the UK, Dublin and Online, including accurate reporting of sales and margins, processing monthly payments, preparation of monthly concession statements and posting journals.

Responsibilities
  • Preparation of monthly concession statements for stores and online and ensuring payments meet tight deadlines.
  • Posting of month-end journal into the accounting system
  • Analysis of sales and margins for concessions, preparing margin reports, and providing commentary of variances compared to budget and last year
  • Investigating ad hoc queries from concessions and stores and responding in a timely manner
  • Supporting the concessions team with finance related queries and reporting
  • Assisting with the preparation and production of P&Ls and the management pack
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, submitting within deadlines and resolving variances in a timely manner
  • Provide information relating to year-end internally and to the auditors
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Assist in the preparation of annual statutory accounts and tax computations
  • Assist in preparation of ad hoc tasks/projects as requested by the finance manager

Qualifications & What we're looking for

  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Good planning and prioritisation skills. Able to work in a methodical manner.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Interest in understanding systems and making improvements
  • Experience of working in finance department.
  • Good numerical skills
  • Degree or currently studying an accounting qualification preferable (ACCA/CIMA).
  • Excellent PC skills - intermediate Excel (including PivotTables, Data Filters, V-lookups etc).
  • Retail experience would be advantageous.
