Job description
Overview

Field Service Technician required to join the Service Team in Manchester. Reporting directly to the Service Manager, this role maintains customer equipment on-site and supports workshop activities for aftermarket service operations. The ideal candidate will be based in Manchester or surrounding areas and, when not at customer sites, will be based at our main service facility in Middleton. You will primarily work at customer sites across the UK and overseas, providing installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance support. The role focuses on mechanical systems including pumps, rotating equipment, vacuum, and pressure systems, and involves driving process improvements and maintaining strong customer relations while managing your schedule to maximise productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site support for service maintenance and workshop tasks.
  • Prepare and approve work packs for service team activities.
  • Perform mechanical completion checks, factory acceptance tests, electrical function/loop checks, and leak/pressure testing.
  • Compile detailed technical reports on customer equipment.
  • Deliver after sales support, including inspections, spare part identification, and technical advice.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Travel daily to customer sites as required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Required - Recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship (C&G, NVQ Level 3 or above, ONC, HNC).
  • Desirable - Proficient at interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Desirable - Experience with installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Desirable - Understanding of industry standards and wastewater procedures.
  • Required - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
