Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Location: Portbury, Bristol/North Somerset

Remuneration: £17.45 per hour (On target earnings due to travel and overtime £45,000-£50,000)

Contract: Permanent, Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (39 hours + Overtime)

Whether you're already in a Field Service Engineer role or you come from a strong mechanical background - such as plant, HGV, automotive, or machinery maintenance, this opportunity could be an excellent fit for you. Our client is searching for a motivated, hands‑on professional to join their growing team in Portbury, North Somerset.

Responsibilities
  • Servicing and maintaining generators both on-site and in the depot
  • Fault-finding on control panels and AC/DC electrical systems
  • Performing mechanical and electrical repairs
  • Joining the out-of-hours on-call rota (including Bank Holidays)
  • Communicating directly with customers to ensure excellent service
  • Completing essential maintenance paperwork (service sheets, PDI sheets, etc.)
  • Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety procedures
Desired Skills and Experience

We welcome applicants who are already in engineering roles as well as mechanically minded candidates with transferable skills. Ideal applicants will have:

  • An NVQ in plant maintenance or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Desired but not essential as all training given)
  • Experience in the generator or plant hire industry (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong ability to manage and prioritise workloads
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least 3 years
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • A forklift licence (training available if needed)
