A prominent healthcare provider in Cornwall is looking for a trainee in anaesthesia with a keen interest in clinical simulation and education. This role involves coordinating the Simulation programme, direct involvement in anaesthetic duties, and delivering simulation training across various sites. The ideal candidate should already have the RCOA Basic Level Training and Primary FRCA qualification. Additional benefits include pension options and support for educational growth. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
This exciting opportunity would suit a trainee with a background in anaesthesia and an interest in clinical simulation and education. The post is supported by the Division of Anaesthesia and Theatres and requires the applicant to have completed RCOA Basic Level Training in anaesthesia and hold their Primary FRCA qualification.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist in the further development of our Trust-wide simulation programme. The Trust has invested heavily in the development of a Simulation Suite and Clinical Skills laboratory over the last ten years. Simulation-based clinical training has since become embedded into medical education across many divisions. The role includes regular delivery of simulation training sessions, both in the Simulation Suite and across multiple hospital sites and specialities. There would also be a significant component of the post devoted to the expansion of the Trust clinical simulation facility. Time will be set‑aside for the post‑holder to undertake audit and/or research in the field of clinical simulation under the supervision of the Trust simulation lead. Funding will be available for a related PGCE.
In addition to simulation, the successful candidate would partake in the senior anaesthetic or obstetric trainee on‑call rota, alongside ST‑level anaesthetic trainees. The registrar rota comprises supervision of more junior anaesthetic trainees, cover of the Intensive Care Unit and support for the resident obstetric anaesthetic trainee as required. The post‑holder would also be expected to deliver approximately one‑two sessions of elective clinical anaesthesia each week.

We work with health and social care organisations – including NHS Kernow and NHS England – to ensure local healthcare needs are met. We provide acute medical, surgical and specialist services to around 500,000 and can increase significantly during busy holiday periods. The Trust has teaching hospital status as part of the University of Exeter Medical School. Keeping at the forefront of medical advances, we continually develop clinical services and are committed to maximising the range of specialist care offered locally.
It is vital that you provide full and accurate details of your current immigration status on the application form. To work in the UK all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require a visa – we may be able to provide sponsorship, but this is not guaranteed.
