Factory Manager

Salary: £50-£55,000 per annum. Permanent position based in Gillingham, Kent. Benefits include 33 days holiday, Pension, On‑site parking, Employee welfare scheme, parental leave. Days role working 7am to 5pm Mon to Thurs & 7am to 12 noon on Friday.

Our client is a small to medium sized business offering niche and innovative products to a global engineering market and is currently recruiting for a Factory Manager / Production Manager to join them. Reporting to the MD, you will be a key member of the leadership team and will be responsible for managing the day‑to‑day running of the factory and production processes.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Organising and managing around 60 staff including toolroom, maintenance, quality, production and warehousing, as well as managing agency staff.
  • Developing and supporting staff including responsibility for apprentices.
  • Update and implement ISO9001, 14001 and industry specific quality management systems and standards - as well as conducting internal and external audits.
  • Analysis of daily operational data to ensure short and long term KPI's are being met.
  • Managing stock control, movement of goods and general housekeeping.
  • Write and implement work instructions and/or SOPs across all areas of operation.
  • Direct involvement in manufacturing issues and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for end product compliance and personal development of shop floor personnel.
  • Directly involved in quality management systems and audits
  • To drive a culture of excellence.
Experience and qualifications of the Factory Manager will include:
  • Background working in a similar role within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment
  • Good man management skills and able to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to improve manufacturing processes using techniques such as Lean or Kaizen.
  • Track record managing stock levels through efficient planning and stock control.
  • Knowledge and experience managing an ERP system.
