Handyperson / Facilities Maintenance Operative

Gloucester/Cheltenham

Manufacturing Facility

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Facilities Maintenance Operative to join an established SME manufacturing business ideally situated between Gloucester and Cheltenham.

You will need to be practically minded with a hands‑on attitude to support building, facilities and general site upkeep, ensuring the company is functional at all times.

The work will be based in a modern purpose‑built facility which has recently undergone refurbishments and extension to grow its capability.

Duties
  • Basic maintenance tasks, including changing fixtures and fitting.
  • Small scale decorating tasks and touch‑up jobs within the buildings.
  • Deal with basic plumbing issues and escalate more serious issues.
  • Grounds maintenance including keeping external areas, car parks and walkways tidy.
  • Basic gardening tasks such as weed control and plant upkeep.
  • Monitor and replenish employee consumables.
  • Carry out PAT testing (training will be provided).
  • Conduct simple visual checks around the site for hazards.
  • Manage company pool vehicles, including taking for servicing, MOTs, and valeting.
  • Make occasional trips to offsite warehouse to collect materials, equipment or supplies.
Background
  • Experience in maintenance, facilities, or similar.
  • Basic DIY or handyman skills (painting, minor plumbing, carpentry).
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to use hand tools and basic power tools safely.
  • Full UK driving licence with no endorsements (Essential)
