Location: North West - Engineering Centre of Excellence

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits

We're representing a leading UK defence engineering manufacturer with over a century of heritage in delivering high-integrity mechanical and structural systems for global defence applications. As part of continued investment in its North West Engineering Centre of Excellence, the business is seeking a Manufacturing Facilities Engineer to lead the maintenance, development, and performance of its production infrastructure.

About the Role

The Facilities Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the company's manufacturing facilities. This position combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of capital projects, maintenance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives — ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a three-year rolling facilities plan aligned with business strategy.
  • Lead capital investment and improvement projects, including justification, budgeting, and execution.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring compliance, safety, and performance.
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of site facilities and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
  • Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to optimise equipment uptime.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Support production engineering teams to ensure continuity of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and enhance the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and world‑class operational standards.
What We're Looking For
  • HND / HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Facilities Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of PUWER, LOTO, and general HSE regulations.
  • Proven experience delivering CAPEX projects and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Hands‑on experience with CMMS systems and safe contractor management.
  • NEBOSH or similar Health & Safety certification.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and problem‑solving skills.
Desirable
  • Background in multiskilled engineering or maintenance supervision.
  • Project Management qualifications (Prince2, PMP) or LEAN/Six Sigma training.
  • Experience with BMS / BAS systems and CAD tools.
