A higher education provider seeks an External Moderator for Business and Accounting to ensure assessment standards. This flexible role requires significant experience in UK further education and the ability to exercise independent academic judgment. Candidates should possess a relevant degree and be available during specified moderation periods. The role involves reviewing student work, confirming alignment with learning outcomes, and producing written reports, making it ideal for experienced academics looking for quality assurance opportunities.
INTO's mission: Transforming international student academic and career success through exceptional university partnerships.
Position: External Moderator, Business and Accounting
Location: Remote
Contract Type: Zero Hours
Pay: A flat fee of £500 is payable per assessment window supported.
We are appointing External Moderators to provide independent academic oversight of assessment standards across INTO Qualifications' regulated Level 3 programmes. This role plays a key part in maintaining confidence in our qualifications by ensuring consistency, fairness, and alignment with UK academic standards across multiple delivery centres. External Moderators work independently of teaching and delivery teams, providing objective academic judgement and constructive feedback.
Responsibilities include reviewing samples of assessed student work and associated marking following assessment windows. This includes confirming alignment with published learning outcomes, marking criteria, and level descriptors, and identifying any issues relating to standards, consistency, or assessment practice. You will produce clear, evidence based written reports and may contribute to Assessment Boards or quality review discussions where required. The role is cyclical rather than continuous and is well suited to experienced academics seeking flexible quality assurance work within a structured awarding body framework.
Applicants should be confident teaching introductory business and accounting content, including business purpose and objectives, organisational structures and culture, leadership and motivation, stakeholders and the external environment, alongside basic financial and management accounting concepts such as recording transactions, simple financial statements, costing, budgeting and interpretation of financial information for decision making.
