We are hiring a full-time Estimator to join our Commercial team. The role involves preparing development budgets, estimates, and cashflows from pre-land purchase to final budget, before handing over to Quantity Surveying and Buying teams. The estimator provides accurate cost estimates to support land and business opportunities and maximize development cost-effectiveness.

This position is based in Exeter, Western region. Key responsibilities include:

• Building relationships with external consultants and specialists
• Maintaining market awareness on material and subcontractor prices
• Updating cost databases and collaborating with the commercial team
• Producing financial appraisals and conducting risk analyses for new sites
• Quantities take-off, procurement, and analysis of quotations
• Reviewing drawings and tender documentation
• Updating build cost budgets regularly and at key milestones
• Considering subcontractor quotes and site constraints
• Applying technical knowledge of construction processes
• Exploring innovative cost-saving techniques and value engineering

Ideal candidates will have:

• Experience with estimating software like Bluebeam or similar
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office
• Ability to interpret quotations and tender documents
• Experience in recording tender costs and related data
• Knowledge of construction techniques and building regulations
• Ability to challenge and optimize designs for cost efficiency
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Housing Quantity Surveying background is advantageous
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
