Overview

Croydon College Group is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and resourceful ESOL lecturer to join our team of specialists working with adult ESOL learners with high literacy needs. The role focuses on improving English reading and writing skills for learners with low level literacy in their native languages. The position is based in Croydon, London, with excellent transport links, and offers a fixed-term contract.

Location: Croydon, London [Greater London]

Salary: Up to £45,357.51 per annum (Including London Allowance) depending on experience and qualification

Contract: Fixed term, from 19 December 2025 to December 2026

Hours: Part time

Responsibilities
  • Deliver ESOL teaching to adult learners with high literacy needs, including asylum seekers, refugees, and economic migrants.
  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of how to improve English reading and writing skills for learners with low level literacy in their native languages.
  • Contribute to ensuring an outstanding student experience and achieving positive outcomes for learners.
  • Maintain professional development to continuously improve teaching practice and outcomes.
  • Work within the college's facilities and policies to support staff and student development.
Qualifications and requirements
  • A teaching qualification (DTTLS or equivalent) and a relevant degree, or an appropriate higher-level qualification, with relevant experience teaching low-level reading and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and delivering outstanding results.
  • CELTA or a professional qualification in Literacy (e.g., NPQ/L or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2 or above is required.
  • DBS check and other onboarding requirements are in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines for successful applicants.
