Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Play a key role in supporting innovative equity derivatives products and proprietary indices by providing comprehensive legal advice and guidance to business units.
• Work collaboratively with senior management and cross-functional teams to ensure robust compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, while proactively managing legal risk.
• Provide expert legal advice and support to the Markets division on all matters related to equity derivatives products.
• Draft, review, and update template legal documentation for the Markets division, ensuring accuracy and alignment with current regulatory standards.
• Deliver engaging training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements pertinent to the Markets business units.
• Represent the Legal department in litigation, arbitration, or regulatory investigations involving the Markets business units as required.

What you\'ll need to be successful:

• Qualified lawyer admitted in England & Wales, New York or a Commonwealth jurisdiction with significant post-qualification experience (5+ PQE).
• Extensive knowledge of equity derivatives products or proprietary indices as well as familiarity with EU/UK Benchmark Regulation.
• Demonstrated experience gained either in private practice or as part of an in-house finance legal team within a major financial institution.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing equity derivatives markets including recent developments affecting compliance obligations.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to build trusting relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple functions.
• Experience advising senior leadership teams on risk mitigation strategies aligned with broader organisational objectives.
