A global banking organization in Greater London is seeking a senior front desk staff member to lead its structured finance team. This role involves managing a team, originating and executing deals, and developing new financial products for clients. The ideal candidate should have experience in junior/mezz financing and a strong understanding of stakeholder management. SMBC Leasing ("LF") is a product group of the bank. Team provide asset finance solutions to clients of the bank and front desk staff work both with various departments in the EMEA region as well as source deals directly themselves. Deals can take the form of all forms of leases/asset back loans or junior/mezz debt into project finance deals
LF breaks its front desk down into sector/asset specialists and different staff are also closely linked to other departments for joint working opportunities. This position would be in charge of the structured finance team and should have expertise across product types with a focus on junior product opportunities.
This position is to head the latter team of four FTEs. This team is seen as the key income driver going forward as it has a broad remit, namely, to provide junior/mezz finance into infrastructure and real estate assets. Most deals will be providing junior debt into project finance deals. This person will be required to be able to run all aspects of a deal providing a 'cradle to grave' approach. Note once completed deals are passed to a portfolio management function where this position will be called upon as reference as necessary.
