We’re looking for an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Co‑ordinator. This is your chance to apply your skills where it really matters. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real difference all the while growing your career, CFRS could be the perfect place for you.

Salary: £37,280 – £39,152 per annum (pro rata)

Hours: 24 hours per week

Contract: Fixed Term (Two Years)

Location: Service Headquarters, Huntingdon (Hybrid Working – flexible, agile, hybrid working pattern where you can work from home, as well as from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service and other locations around Cambridgeshire.)

About The Role

We are looking for someone passionate about creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. As our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Co‑ordinator, you will champion inclusive practices across the organisation, helping us ensure fairness in everything we do; both as an employer and as a service provider. Working closely with colleagues at all levels, you will coordinate the delivery of our EDI Strategy, raise awareness of key initiatives, and play a central role in embedding a culture of inclusion throughout the Service.

In this role, you will lead our Employee Inclusion Networks, guide teams through Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs), and develop practical, engaging EDI training for managers and employees. You will monitor and report on progress, using data and feedback to shape decision‑making and support continuous improvement. Alongside this, you will provide expert advice on inclusive practices, help maintain accessible and up‑to‑date EDI information on our intranet, and contribute to the development of inclusive policies.

This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You will work collaboratively with senior leaders, the People Team, and colleagues across the Service to influence cultural change and highlight the positive impact of diversity and inclusion. If you are proactive, people‑focused, and ready to help drive meaningful progress, we would be delighted to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in an agile, dynamic environment, supporting a service that truly impacts the community.

About You

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and experiences, but the ideal person will have:

  • Significant practical human resources and/or equality, diversity & inclusion experience.
  • Experience of providing advice on equality, diversity issues & inclusion at all levels.
  • Exposure to training needs analysis and training delivery to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of facilitation as a style of engagement and delivery.
  • Understanding and experience of managing and bringing about cultural change.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating policies, procedures and action plans.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant equality legislation, codes of practice, regulations and case law.
  • Understanding of wider equality, diversity & inclusion issues such as social inclusion and cultural awareness.
  • Knowledge of the equality, diversity & inclusion issues currently impacting on the public sector in general, and the Fire and Rescue sector in particular.
  • Proven research, analysis and report presentation skills.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development.
  • An innovative thinker with the ability to be creative.
