Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major digital initiative designed to transform the delivery of care at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Programme stands as one of the most ambitious change projects in the Trust’s history. Its aim is to streamline staff workflows, enhance safety, and ultimately achieve improved outcomes for service users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the testing programme for the new EPR solution, ensuring successful delivery.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Testing Strategy, including tools, change control, timelines, defect monitoring, and issue management.
  • Plan and oversee all test phases, coordinate activities across multiple workstreams, and manage defect triage processes.
  • Ensure quality control frameworks, documentation of test evidence, and traceability from requirements to outcomes.
  • Engage with clinical leads, suppliers, and technical teams to guarantee representative testing of operational workflows.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), provide training, and ensure clinical users are supported.
  • Oversee supplier testing and integration, validate performance against service-level expectations.
  • Lead test completion and sign‑off, support dress rehearsals, cut‑over validation, and post go‑live issue management.
Qualifications – Essential
  • Degree in a relevant subject or extensive equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Proven experience as a Test Manager/Test Lead in large-scale EPR or clinical systems programmes.
  • Experience documenting comprehensive test reports with clear outcomes and defect logs.
  • Strong understanding of functional, non‑functional, performance, regression testing and NHS clinical workflows.
  • Experience managing supplier testing and multi‑party environments.
  • Knowledge of clinical safety assurance (DCB0129/DCB0160) and NHS digital governance.
  • Advanced IT skills across all MS Office Applications including MS Project.
  • Familiarity with automated testing tools and test data management.
Qualifications – Desirable
  • Previous experience in mental health EPR implementations.
  • Understanding of SLaM’s local digital environment (ePJS, Carenotes, Azure, integration architecture).
  • Familiarity and understanding of ISO 29119.
  • Test management certification.

Band 8a – £64,156 to £71,148 a year inclusive of HCAS
