A consultancy in environmental protection seeks an experienced Residential & Environmental Protection Officer for a temporary role in Berkshire. The position offers £45 per hour and includes a variety of responsibilities such as managing service requests for statutory nuisance and other environmental issues. Candidates should have strong experience in Environmental Protection and be confident in conducting site visits. It's an excellent opportunity for meaningful work while supporting permanent recruitment efforts.
We are looking for an experienced Residential & Environmental Protection Officer for a temporary assignment in Berkshire. This role will run for a minimum of three months and covers a full mix of Environmental Protection and Residential casework. You will handle reactive service requests across statutory nuisance, contaminated land, noise, odour, air quality, light, drainage, housing conditions, HMOs, mobile home sites, pests, and referrals from Social Care. The post also includes planning consultations and participation in the team duty rota to provide first-response support.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong experience in Environmental Protection, with additional knowledge of Private Sector Housing being highly desirable. You must be confident managing both reactive and proactive workloads, including PPC inspections, HMO licensing work, private water supply risk assessments, and caravan site checks. A full driving licence, access to your own vehicle (insured for business use), and the ability to complete frequent site visits in Berkshire are essential. You will also need solid working knowledge of Civica for regulatory work and familiarity with GIS systems for contaminated land, air quality, and water supply assessments. Candidates with Environmental Protection backgrounds will be considered, but housing-only experience will not be suitable.
In return, the role offers £45 per hour (umbrella), flexible working arrangements, and the opportunity to join a supportive team while permanent recruitment is ongoing. This is an excellent chance to take on varied and meaningful work across environmental protection and residential regulation within the Berkshire area.
