Qualifications

  • Degree in Environmental Science or related subject.
  • IEMA membership at Practitioner level.
  • Environmental Management Systems experience required.

Job description
Role And Responsibilities
    \
  • Ensure environmental compliance with regulations, industry and Network Rail Standards
  • Development and maintenance of the Environmental Management System and associated Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Ensure that the Integrated Management System conforms to the requirements of all relevant standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 44001, ISO 50001
  • Maintain SSIP accreditation and update environmental and sustainability information to pre-qualification and supplier portals including but not limited to RISQS, UVDB, Considerate Contractor, CHAS
  • Maintenance and review of the environmental aspects of the Principal Contractors Licence (PCL) and On-track Plant Operators Scheme (POS) for Network Rail including social value advice and supportli>
  • Work closely with Project Managers to ensure compliance of environmental procedures within their area of responsibility to ensure that standards are maintained
  • Waste management audits and inspections, drafting and implementation of waste management plans
  • Monitor any non-conformances, ensuring accurate deadlines are set and helping the Manager to meet these deadlines
  • Ensure environmental objectives, including those needed to meet requirements of process and product are established
  • Liaising with external parties to ensure any relevant new legislation is dealt with
  • Assisting with the reviewing of environmental documentation (including ESMPs) and preparation of reports
  • Undertake and assist environmental incident investigations
  • Perform audits and inspections on non-railway operations and railway operations
  • Identifying new and amended environmental requirements/legislation where required
  • Energy assessments at offices and sites. Analysis of energy savings opportunities. Implementation of energy management and savings projects
  • Collation of energy and environmental data and compilation of reports
  • Attend environment, safety, and quality meetings with both QTS and clients
  • Encourage and promoting positive environmental behaviour
  • Assist in any other aspect of the Company where required
