An environmental services provider in the UK is seeking an Environmental Performance Officer to ensure projects are conducted sustainably and with minimal environmental impact. The role includes the management of environmental risks, collaboration with stakeholders, and development of training programs. Ideal candidates will have a degree in an environmental subject, experience managing risks, and a passion for sustainability. This position offers a salary of £40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience.
Are you passionate about the environment and looking for a role where you can make a real difference? We're looking for a dedicated Environmental Performance Officer to help us protect and enhance our natural surroundings.
In this role, you'll be a key part of our Environmental Performance Team, ensuring that all our projects—from the initial design to the final construction—are managed in a way that minimises environmental impact. You'll be a champion for good practice, promoting sustainable and responsible approaches across all our work.
Conduct environmental desktop appraisals for new projects, offering expert advice from the design stage onwards.
Work with our project teams to identify ways to minimise environmental impact and find practical, innovative solutions.
Liaise with regulators and stakeholders to get necessary consents and advice, ensuring we're always ahead of the curve.
Carry out site inspections and audits to make sure our work meets both regulations and our own high standards.
Help to roll out training programmes that upskill our teams and promote a culture of environmental responsibility.
Actively promote sustainability, circular economy, and environmental goals across the business.
Have the opportunity to mentor and manage apprentices and graduates within your team.
A degree in an environmental subject or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Demonstrable experience managing environmental risks and finding pragmatic solutions that protect the environment.
A genuine passion for the environment and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people, from colleagues and contractors to regulators and the public.
Experience in people management and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
Experience working in a process environment, especially with incident response.
Chartership or are working towards it with a professional body like CIWEM or CIEEM.
A specialist background, such as in archaeology, arboriculture, or as a protected species licence holder.
Experience with habitat restoration and management techniques, particularly in woodland, chalk grassland, and heathland habitats.
Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain.
Strong report writing and data presentation skills.
