Job description

Good Evening,

Buckingham Futuresis currently seeking an experienced Environmental Health OfficerorHigher Certificate Technical Officerfor a client in the Midlands to carry out food premises inspections under the FSA Food Law Code of Practice, starting January 2026.

This role is offered on an hourly contract basis. There is also the option to undertake work on a per-inspection basis, allowing assignments to be tailored to your availability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct food hygiene inspections in line with the Food Law Code of Practice
• Complete inspection proformas and risk rate food businesses
• Determine Food Hygiene Rating scores where applicable
• Ensure food business registrations are current and assist with registration forms as required

Candidate Requirements:

• Hold a recognised qualification: Higher Certificate in Food Control or Certificate/Diploma issued by the Environmental Health Registration Board
• Demonstrable competence in Inspection of Food Establishments (Cluster 4)
• Completion of at least 10 hours of Food Core CPD as specified in the current Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance
• Relevant qualifications and CPD certificates must be submitted to Buckingham Futures before the start of the contract
