Job description
Overview

Environmental Health Officer needed in Charnwood.

Reference: OR12517

Pay per inspection work with on site visits, some are outside office hours.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out detailed food hygiene and safety inspections, audits and risk assessments of commercial food premises, in accordance with the FSA codes of practice, to ensure compliance with food hygiene and health and safety legislation.
  • Secure improvements in standards by advice, instruction and written correspondence.
  • Complete approximately 250 inspections comprising of new businesses and D category inspections.
  • Complete inspection proformas and draft electronic inspection reports detailing contraventions and recommendations with appropriate compliance dates within 7 days from the date of inspection.
  • Work is carried out on a pay per inspection basis only.
  • This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health
  • Certificate of registration with EHRB or equivalent
  • Experience in food safety interventions and enforcement
  • Knowledge and practical application of Hazard Analysis, risk assessment and food safety management systems
  • IT competent Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Able to work outside of office hours
  • Able to travel throughout the borough
