3 months contract with local authority

This temporary position aims to support the Council's Vision by delivering comprehensive Food Safety services in line with Service Development Plans, performance targets, legislation, and Council standards. The role is designed to cover current absences in the Food Safety Team and provide additional resources to meet inspection targets. The position involves collaboration with team members, the Council, and external organizations to develop innovative solutions to environmental health challenges, ensuring best practices and value for money.

  • Undertake additional duties as required, aligned with the role's purpose and grading.
Requirements
  • Experience: Significant recent experience as an Environmental Health Officer or Food Safety Enforcement Officer within a local authority.
  • Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Environmental Health accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health; recognized food safety qualification; EHRB registration.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
    • In‑depth knowledge of food safety technical and legal aspects.
    • Ability to manage a varied workload within a performance framework.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and Civica APP (Flare) software.
  • Personal Qualities:

  • Other Factors:
    • Willingness to work unsociable hours.
    • Ability to travel widely, with a valid driving license or access to transport.
