Job description

A client within the Public Sector based in North West Leicestershire District is currently recruiting for a Food Inspector / Environmental Health Officer (Food Safety) to join their Environmental Health / Food Safety Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority environment delivering food hygiene official controls.

The Role

The key purpose of the role is to undertake food hygiene inspections within North West Leicestershire District in accordance with statutory requirements and the Food Law Code of Practice.

  • Undertaking food hygiene inspections across a mix of unrated/new food business registrations and Category D premises
  • Completing inspection report forms following each inspection
  • Producing risk ratings in line with the Food Law Code of Practice
  • Preparing follow-up schedules of works where required
  • Managing your own inspection programme and working independently to agreed standards
The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications:

  • EHRB Registration or Higher Certificate in Food Control (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of professional competency, including food-related CPD

The below skills and experience would be beneficial for the role:

  • Experience delivering food hygiene inspections on behalf of a local authority
  • Ability to work independently and to regulatory standards
  • Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business use
  • Confidence working across a wide range of food premises

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering a rate of £45 per completed inspection.
