A leading educational organization is seeking an experienced teacher to deliver English programs at Feltham Young Offenders Institute. The role requires creating engaging lessons for learners in custody who face various challenges. Applicants should hold a recognized teaching qualification and have experience in teaching English up to Level 3. Benefits include 40 days annual leave, health support, and professional development opportunities.
This isn’t a typical classroom. At Feltham Young Offenders Institute, you’ll teach learners in custody, many of whom have been let down by mainstream education. Research shows around 60% of young people in the justice system have speech, language or communication needs, with many facing undiagnosed SEN. Add to this that many will have had a challenging upbringing.
This is about more than lessons. It’s about giving learners a second chance: building skills, confidence, and belief that education can work for them.
