Job Title: English Teacher

Location: Mansfield

Start Date: January 2026

Salary: £168-£232 per day

TeacherActive is working with an outstanding mainstream secondary school in the Mansfield area. The school has high aspirations and offers fantastic support to all of its staff.

Responsibilities

The school is looking to take on an English teacher starting in January 2026, on a long‑term, full‑time cover for the whole 2026 calendar year. The successful applicant will work across both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including exam preparation for GCSEs, and will also give some drama lessons. The role will be paramount in helping students achieve excellent results in the subject, whilst following and implementing the schemes of learning.

Qualifications
  • Graduate with qualified teacher status (QTS).
  • Outstanding teacher in English, with a strong teaching record.
  • Relevant qualifications (both formal and through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment.
  • Excellent in‑depth knowledge of the place of the English curriculum in the development of young people and an understanding of the importance of a rigorous reading strategy to ensure students' confidence and reading fluency.
