Role: English Teacher - Specialist SEND Provision

Location: TA3 - Outskirts of Taunton

Start: September 2025

Contract: Full time, permanent

Salary: £27,000 - £43,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)

Long-Term Teachers is proud to be recruiting on behalf of an exceptional specialist provision based just outside of Taunton. This forward-thinking school is looking to appoint a dedicated and adaptable English Teacher to join their team from September 2025. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-impact learning within a therapeutic and inclusive education setting.

The school supports children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including social, emotional and communication needs. Most students are taught in small groups or 1:1, allowing for truly personalised teaching that focuses on academic progress, emotional development and life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to individual learners
  • Teach small groups and 1:1, adapting the curriculum to suit student needs and learning levels
  • Monitor, assess and report on student progress using a holistic, learner-centred approach
  • Encourage the development of literacy skills, communication and self-expression
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, therapists and families to support student growth
  • Foster a calm, safe and encouraging classroom environment

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) preferred
  • Experience teaching English in a SEND or alternative provision setting is highly desirable
  • Able to adapt mainstream content for learners working below age-related expectations
  • Calm, patient and passionate about supporting students with additional needs
  • Strong communicator with excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
