Overview

At OFG, we work smarter to support work/life balance. We are trialing a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW), which may involve working one day less per week (or equivalent). The 4DWW will be rolled out within our school as staffing levels allow and within the next year. This is an exciting time to join us as part of #teamOFG.

Job Title: English Teacher

Location: The Greater Horseshoe School, Heathfield, TQ12 6RH

Salary: Up to £37,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 40.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Start: October 2025

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver and teach engaging English lessons to individual students and small groups, in line with the curriculum framework.
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the School Development Plan.
  • Support the physical, educational, and moral development of students in line with school policies.
  • Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour plans, and personalised learning approaches in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Coordinate teaching, assessment, and reporting across agreed subjects and key stages.
  • Create a stimulating, safe, and well-organised classroom environment that encourages learning.
  • Work closely with Learning Support Assistants, tutors, and care staff to ensure effective support for students.
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students, both on and off-site.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience of teaching English across different key stages.
  • Strong commitment to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
