Smart Teachers is working in partnership with a popular and well-regarded secondary school in East London to recruit a Temporary English Teacher for a February half-term start. This is a full-time role initially on a temporary basis, with the potential to extend depending on school needs

The successful candidate will be teaching English across KS3 and KS4, joining a supportive, collaborative and well-resourced English department. The school has a strong focus on inclusive practice, high academic expectations and positive behaviour for learning.

The role will involve:
  • Delivering engaging and well-structured English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Planning, marking and assessing in line with departmental and whole-school policies
  • Maintaining high expectations of behaviour and achievement
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil progress
The school is looking for someone who:
  • Holds QTS (or is an ECT)
  • Has strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching secondary English
  • Is adaptable, proactive and committed to high-quality teaching
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff

This role would suit an experienced English teacher or a confident ECT looking to gain experience in a well-run secondary setting.
