Job Purpose

The Engineering Technician will support the delivery of high-quality engineering provision at Shrewsbury College by providing technical expertise within the engineering workshops. The post holder will play a key role in maintaining safe, well‑organised, and fully equipped learning environments, working closely with teaching staff and students across the Engineering department.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the effective operation of engineering workshops to enable successful delivery of engineering courses
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety in line with current HSE legislation and College policies
  • Ensure workshop machinery, tools, and equipment are maintained, inspected, and fit for purpose
  • Prepare tools, materials, and equipment in advance of practical teaching sessions
  • Order, manage, and monitor stock levels of consumables, materials, and equipment
  • Provide technical and practical support to teaching staff during workshop sessions
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians and the Engineering leadership team
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, statutory requirements, and health and safety guidance
