Job Context

This apprenticeship will include an Level 4 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship from our learning provider; it will allow you to get a head start in your career by gaining real world insight and experience in a fast-paced and ever-changing industry.

Engineers are able to solve real-world problems using a combination of mechanical and electrical engineering expertise. This occupation requires the understanding of software programming, the ability to interpret data, the use of a range of CAD and software tools, and the operation of mechanical systems via electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic means.

You will be part of the wider Lucy Group so will be exposed to a number of different businesses that will be able to enhance the breadth of knowledge that is available to you.

Job Dimensions

The structure of the apprenticeship is as follows:

  • 4-year engagement whereby you will be permanently employed by Lucy Electric whilst studying.
    • Initial 10 months at college at The Engineering Trust in Bicester (08:30 – 17:00 Monday to Friday)
    • 14 months of extended workplace placements (rotations) in multiple engineering related departments during your apprenticeship such as: Design Engineering, Prototype, Technical, Applications and Contract Engineering, Quality, Industrial, Process and Production Engineering, Operations Management, Software, Hardware and even Product Management. You will also have the opportunity to work in a hands‑on capacity in our production facility.
    • 2 years of specialising in a department that suits your capabilities after an initial 2-year assessment.

You will have a dedicated mentor throughout your studies who will assist with your rotations, induction to the various business departments and generally being a go-to-contact during the start of your career with us.
