Qualifications

  • Good knowledge and experience of managing asset hierarchies and breakdown structures including Work Breakdown Structure, Product Breakdown Structure and Bill of Materials.
  • Possess a full understanding of plans, schedules, process instructions, forms, user guides and standards relating to the Datum Pack.
  • Have a full working knowledge on the complex data sources required in the production of the Datum Pack.

Job Title:

Engineering Manager (Configuration Control)

Location:

Barrow-in-Furness, Coventry, Filton, BroadOak or Brough. On-site working and travel to other sites is expected.

Salary:

Negotiable dependent on experience.

What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting with the development of design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality in accordance with the project or business milestones by establishing and maintaining the appropriate configuration control baselines. With this, you will be complying with contractual requirements and undertaking work in accordance with company, safety, environmental and local business processes, standards and procedures.
  • Articulating the impact of good and bad configuration control and baseline management across all areas of the submarine combat system, the platform, its through-life support and the documentation.
  • Supporting the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to enable delivery involving bids, proposal development and project planning activities for configuration control and baseline management activities.
  • Provide technical direction to other configuration control engineers and support with the management and planning of specialist activities.
  • Provide appropriate configuration status reporting for LCM deliverables, Datum Pack, EIP deliverables and design reviews.
  • Manage configuration governance on project documentation and deliverables such as System Requirements Documents; Verification Cross-Reference Index; Integration, test, evaluation and acceptance plans.
  • Oversee configuration control audit information and reporting to support with project and business reviews.
Your skills and experiences
  • Good knowledge and experience of managing asset hierarchies and breakdown structures including Work Breakdown Structure, Product Breakdown Structure and Bill of Materials.
  • Possess a full understanding of plans, schedules, process instructions, forms, user guides and standards relating to the Datum Pack.
  • Have a full working knowledge on the complex data sources required in the production of the Datum Pack. This includes but is not limited to the Life Cycle Catalogue, DIP, electronic Document Management System Enterprise Change Request database and Equipment Information Packs for the Logistic Support Information and Initial Provisioning teams.

The Product Configuration Engineering team

By joining us in the team at this exciting time, you will have the opportunity to work with the Support Engineering and Project Management Teams to ensure that there is a consistent and co-ordinated approach to change management across the function. You will be very heavily customer facing in this role and will work closely with a number of external and internal stakeholders including industry partners. This opportunity will be rewarding, providing the chance to grow while contributing to the success of multi-faceted and high-profile programmes. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
