Job description

A fantastic East Yorkshire based FMGC company are looking for a hands‑on engineering leader who is required to take full ownership of the engineering function.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining, repairing, and improving all site equipment to ensure consistent, efficient production.
  • Implementing and driving planned and preventative maintenance, delivering site and equipment improvements, and leading Capex activity.
  • Working closely with production, focus on reducing downtime, increasing output, and building robust in‑house mechanical and electrical capability.
  • Managing external contractors.
  • Establishing a fit‑for‑purpose maintenance workshop.
  • As part of the senior management team, contribute to improving site systems, culture, GMP, quality, and overall performance.
  • This role demands a practical, sleeves‑rolled‑up approach – a leader who thrives on being present on the factory floor.
Experience Required
  • Strong background in FMCG or similar fast‑moving production environments.
  • Broad exposure to food manufacturing equipment (e.g., boilers, pans, compressors, multi‑heads, conveyors, check‑weighers, metal detectors, pouch/flow wrapping machinery).
  • Proven ability to design and implement preventative maintenance systems.
  • Competence across both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Ability to coach and develop line leaders in basic machine operation.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety and regulatory compliance.
Hours
  • Standard: 7:00–16:00, 40 hours per week.
  • Flexibility required to support breakdowns and production needs (factory runs 7:00–17:00; occasional Saturday mornings).
  • 5 days per week.
