Job summary

A leading advanced manufacturing centre in the UK is seeking a dynamic engineering professional to lead engineering capital acquisition and continuous improvement projects. This role involves managing capital equipment projects, ensuring they align with business needs, and providing technical guidance. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering and have substantial experience in managing engineering projects while delivering on time and within budget. Location: NCC HQ, Bristol

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Join NCC and help shape the future of advanced manufacturing. We’re looking for a dynamic engineering professional to lead engineering capital acquisition and continuous improvement projects, driving innovation across our HQ and partner sites.

What you’ll do
  • Take ownership of engineering capital equipment projects – from proposal through delivery – ensuring they meet business needs.
  • Lead equipment procurement and upgrades, from market surveys to tender specifications, working closely with procurement, engineering teams, and supply chains.
  • Broad technical engineering and facilities knowledge to evaluate and support with the selection and implementation of new equipment and any required services on a given operational site.
  • You will provide manufacturing and equipment technical specialist authority and guidance on projects and technical capability/strategy development, specifically where procurement of new equipment is required, or the upgrade of existing equipment.
  • Support the formulation and establishment of NCC engineering capital wish list. You will appraise and revise proposals ensuring strategic alignment for short and long term roadmaps in collaboration with the engineering team.

What we’re looking for
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Substantial experience in engineering capital projects and commissioning.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent technical knowledge across engineering disciplines, with the ability to separate business “needs” from engineering “wants.”
  • Good understanding of facilities services schematics and engineering drawings.
