Engineering Apprentice

We are recruiting Engineering Apprentices! As an Engineering Apprentice you will study towards a recognised qualification, earn a good salary, develop new skills and gain invaluable experience, with 40 weeks of training at UCS College Group and further work at the Severnside/Bridgwater site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Asset Management: maintain manufacturing machinery, manage processes, pack and clean the site.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, project management, tests and trial activities.
  • Fault finding and quick action to meet food safety standards.
  • Work as part of a team to achieve the highest quality products.
  • Highlight concerns and ensure product volumes meet agreed targets and requirements.
Technical Topics Covered
  • Electrical principles and maintenance.
  • Mechanical maintenance to keep factories running efficiently.
  • Automation.
Training Programme

This apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with UCS College Group. You will spend 40 weeks of your first year at their training facility, and from years 2‑4 spend a combined 36 weeks with UCS College Group, with the remainder at the Severnside/Bridgwater site.

Entry Requirements
  • National 5s at band C or above in English and Maths, plus a science/technical subject.
  • Clear passion for engineering.
  • Ownership of own work.
  • Self‑motivated and proactive approach to work and studies.
  • Flexibility with work hours, including weekends and night shifts.
Qualifications Awarded
  • Level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship Certificate.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Food & Drink Engineering.
  • Potential to progress onto a Level 6 Engineering Degree.
