Overview

Job Role: Mechanical Engineer
Location: HMP Swaleside
Salary: £43,177.30 per annum
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (39 hrs per week)

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues across a wide range of disciplines. Your role will be to support the safe, secure and smooth operation of the prison's facilities, ensuring maintenance and safety are upheld and that the prison remains a safe and nurturing environment for all.

You will join a supportive, family‑like team that works Monday to Friday to create a safe and nurturing environment for all.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a plumber or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
