Endoscope Technician

The closing date is 16 December 2025

The post holder will be part of a Decontamination team who will assist with the process of endoscope decontamination of all flexible endoscopes used in the different departments within the hospital. The Decontamination team will cover weekdays, bank holidays, evenings, and weekend shifts on a rotational basis as part of a seven‑day service. This is not a patient facing/patient based role.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake, under the direction and supervision of the Unit Manager, Assistant Manager, Team Lead, Supervisors, the care and cleaning of endoscopy equipment in the Central Decontamination Unit.
  • To undertake the manual cleaning and process of all different types of endoscopes from around the trust.
  • To gain knowledge and understanding of the functions and clinical use of endoscopes including care, maintenance, and instrument construction.
  • Working knowledge of all endoscopes.
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of the principles of endoscope decontamination adhering to local and national guidelines, standards, and policies.
  • Complete manufacturers training for operators of automated endoscope washer disinfectors.
  • Communication both verbal and non‑verbal is a key skill required for this role.
  • To provide clerical support as required ensuring the efficient and effective running of the department at all times.
  • Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
