BCL Legal is delighted to be working with a highly regarded national law firm, seeking an Employment Health Associate (4+ PQE) to join their growing team in Birmingham.

The Team

The Employment, Pensions and Immigration team is a market leader, consistently ranked in Chambers and Legal 500 Top Tier for employment law, and recognised for its expertise advising health and care clients. The national team operates across multiple offices, acting for a wide range of clients, including NHS bodies, independent healthcare organisations, and other sectors such as local government, higher education, and commercial organisations.

The Birmingham team is supportive, collaborative, and growing, providing a flexible hybrid working model. As part of this dynamic practice, you will work alongside senior colleagues on complex employment matters, including high‑profile litigation, advisory work, and TUPE/transactional projects.

The Role

As an Employment Health Associate, you will:

  • Advise health and care clients, including NHS and independent providers, on a broad range of employment issues.
  • Manage complex employment litigation and tribunal cases as part of a supportive team.
  • Provide guidance on TUPE, restructures, redundancy, employee relations, and contractual matters.
  • Draft legal documents, settlement agreements, and provide clear, commercial advice to clients.
  • Work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams across the firm to deliver joined‑up advice.
  • Support and supervise junior colleagues, contributing to their development.
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management initiatives.
About You

You will be a qualified solicitor with:

  • 4+ years' PQE, with experience in employment law, ideally in health and care.
  • Strong litigation and/or advisory experience, with the ability to manage complex matters.
  • Experience advising on TUPE, restructures, redundancy, and employment contracts.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
  • A proactive, commercial approach to problem‑solving and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A genuine interest in joining a collaborative, growing practice and supporting the team's continued success.
