A local government body in Morpeth is seeking an Employment Adviser to support unemployed residents in finding sustainable employment. This role involves managing a caseload, providing direct support, and engaging with employers. Candidates should have experience in employment support and a strong customer service background. Northumberland Skills is an expanding service offering residents a variety of full- and part‑time courses, apprenticeships, and employability advice and support. We deliver several contracts, including Connect to Work and a new Triage Service. We are now looking to appoint an Employment Adviser to join our team who will work on The Restart Scheme, supporting NCC’s effort to help unemployed residents move towards work.
As an Employment Adviser, your primary role is to support unemployed jobseekers (participants) in finding and sustaining employment. This is a fully face‑to‑face role, and you will manage a caseload, provide direct employment support, and engage with employers to identify sustainable job opportunities. We are seeking someone with experience in similar or transferable roles. Your responsibilities will include:
You should have a can‑do attitude and experience in achieving performance and quality assurance targets in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment. You must manage your workload effectively, work autonomously and as part of a team, and be responsive to new demands.
