A local council organization in Shrewsbury seeks an Experienced Senior Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on a full-time, permanent basis. The role entails providing emergency social work services for those at risk, addressing critical situations including child protection and complex mental health assessments. Candidates must possess a Social Work and AMHP qualification, along with substantial post-qualification experience. The position requires excellent decision-making and communication skills, operating outside of office hours in a supportive and diverse team environment.

Salary: £48,226 - £51,356 (including 2 increments for AMHP) + £4000 Market Factor + 15% Out of Hours. Allowance: Full reimbursement of Social Work England registration fee.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join a dedicated and enthusiastic Emergency Duty Team (EDT). The role involves providing emergency social work services (statutory & non‑statutory) for adults and children at risk of significant harm, addressing a variety of social care emergencies, including child protection, adult safeguarding, homelessness, and complex mental health assessments where delay until the next working day would be detrimental. The EDT team operates outside of regular office hours, ensuring coverage from 17:00 to 09:00 on weekdays and 24 hours a day on weekends and bank holidays.
This position requires a Social Work and AMHP qualification, substantial post‑qualification experience, and registration with Social Work England. Key skills include managing competing priorities, personal resilience, sound decision‑making, and excellent communication and negotiation abilities. You will be required to liaise with and work alongside all social care disciplines and partner agencies.
