Overview

We are currently recruiting for Emergency Dispatchers to join our Control Room team at our Emergency Operations Centre in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will be responsible for the deployment of emergency ambulance resources and support the delivery of a high level of clinical quality and the best possible patient care. You will communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response and help is arranged.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy emergency ambulance resources across a specific geographical area in accordance with local and national performance targets and call triage categories.
  • Work as part of the wider control room team to coordinate responses and ensure the best possible patient care.
  • Communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure appropriate emergency ambulance response and assistance is arranged.
  • Remain resilient, professional and demonstrate good communication skills; work well within teams; be IT literate; use computerised systems; multitask; prioritize workloads; and make quick decisions often under pressure.
  • Be prepared for a rotating shift pattern that includes days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications and experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in a customer-focused environment with workload prioritisation in busy, challenging, and fast-paced settings.
  • Some awareness of equality and diversity; good geographical knowledge of the area; experience of working as part of a team.
  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English.
  • Understanding of the Ambulance Service/NHS is beneficial; robust training, mentoring and support are provided.
